Summary

This position is responsible for supervising and completing onsite construction at specified communities to meet quality, customer, cycle time, and budgetary objectives of the Vice President of Operations. In addition to encouraging safe work practices of all Trade Partners, SheaHomes job site employees and visitors; this position also works with a diverse group of important external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload.

Duties
  • Direct accountability for specific areas of construction processes
  • Supervises work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications

  • Evaluates home building processes and services processes on a continual basis to define opportunities for improvement

  • Supervises trade base across all communities

  • Evaluates construction orders/Addendum A’s

  • Enforces disciplinary actions resulting from violation of safety practices or endangering co-workers or company property

  • Assists with other projects as assigned

 

Works under limited supervision and performs standard and advanced duties. Must be able to work successfully in a team environment; have a strong customer service focus; and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected. Must have ability to balance multiple priorities and assignments, be detail-oriented, conscientious with a dependable work ethic. Exceptional organizational, verbal and written communications, presentation, and negotiation skills are required. Knowledge and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of all state and federal OSHA requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years construction supervisory experience + ability to read plans

  • Knowledge of safety and construction standards and home building industry

  • Working knowledge of scheduling software system

  • Computer literate in MS Suite, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point

Skills and Abilities

The employee must be able to climb ladders, scaffolding and walk on sloped roofs. He/she must be able to lift objects up to 40 pounds in weight. Other physical demands include crouching, stooping, bending, jumping, and sitting. The job requirements may be both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions that are extreme at times. The environmental conditions vary dramatically, depending on weather, stage of production, and where inspections take place. Some of the following conditions apply at various times, hot, cold, wet, dry, muddy, humid, windy, calm, bright, dark, noisy, dusty, poor lighting, poor ventilation, temperature variations, fog and rain. Airborne particles such as wood dust, drywall dusts, and even carcinogens are common. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to communicate verbally and in writing, stand, walk, and sit.
